San Jose Taiko, in conjunction with Yu Ai Kai, offers senior taiko classes that focus on balance, coordination, and memorization. The curriculum is designed for seniors, but any adult is welcome to attend. No taiko experience or registration is necessary. If you'd like to take the class, all you have to do is show up!
This class occasionally performs for local community events under the name ASAGAO TAIKO. They have performed at Halloween in Japantown, Japantown Immersive, the Japanese American Museum of San Jose, San Jose City Hall, Yu Ai Kai, and various San Jose community centers.
ONLINE SENIOR TAIKO CLASS
Classes will be held via Zoom. You will need a computer or tablet with an internet connection, a pair of bachi (drumsticks),
and a drum or something to hit. Examples of homemade drums setups are here.
